| Description | Last week, the DC Council took its first vote on next year's local budget. Only two of our housing priorities saw any increase in funding at this stage of the process: the Eviction Record Sealing Authority and Fairness in Renting Act and Targeted Affordable Housing (TAH) vouchers (now 395 families). Unfortunately, eviction prevention and tenant vouchers, including TAH, remain severely underfunded and the Chairman was not able to find the money to reform rapid-rehousing. (He stated that he will be introducing permanent legislation soon to end the arbitrary cliff in rapid re-housing.) The Council will take its final vote on the budget next Tuesday, May 24. Join the Fair Budget Coalition tomorrow at 9AM at the Wilson building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave NW) to bring attention to the pressing need for more housing assistance.
